Sri Lanka has recorded 12 dengue-related deaths this year, including two children under the age of 12, according to the National Dengue Control Unit. The child fatalities were reported from the Colombo and Ratnapura districts. A total of 25,846 dengue cases have been registered nationwide. Health officials attribute the rise in cases to intermittent rainfall and favourable environmental conditions conducive to mosquito breeding.
