Sri Lanka Records Over 920,000 Tourist Arrivals by Early May

Sri Lanka has welcomed over 922,883 tourists from January 1 to May 10, 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). The year began with strong numbers, with January and February recording 277,327 and 279,328 arrivals respectively, showing a notable increase compared to previous years. However, arrivals slowed in March to 183,979 and further dropped to 117,893 in April, a trend attributed by the SLTDA to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. In the first ten days of May alone, 46,606 tourists arrived, with Indian nationals forming the largest group.
