Sri Lanka Police Conduct Major Drug Busts Island-Wide

Sri Lankan law enforcement agencies have conducted multiple successful operations across the island, leading to the seizure of significant quantities of illicit drugs and the arrest of several individuals. Operations in areas including Katunayake Airport, Madivela, Ratmalana, and Kalutara resulted in the confiscation of various narcotics, such as hashish, heroin, and ice methamphetamine. A major bust at the airport involved a passenger arriving from Bangkok with hashish valued at over Rs. 477 million, disguised as chocolate. Other raids yielded over 3kg of hashish, substantial amounts of heroin and ice, and approximately Rs. 508,100 in cash suspected of being proceeds from drug sales. These efforts highlight an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks operating within the country.
