Sri Lanka Navy Seizes Over 2.6 Tonnes of Narcotics in Maritime Operations This Year

The Sri Lanka Navy has seized a substantial amount of narcotics, totaling over 2.6 tonnes, during maritime security operations conducted from January to July 2026. The seizures include 1,080 kg of heroin, 256 kg of cocaine, 667 kg of Kerala cannabis, 590 kg of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine), and 56 kg of hashish. These operations, aimed at combating drug trafficking and safeguarding national maritime borders, represent a significant blow to international drug networks. The Navy continues its intensive surveillance and patrol efforts across Sri Lanka's maritime zones.
