In separate operations conducted between May 16th and May 31st, 44 individuals were apprehended, with eight dinghies, two canoes, and seven tractors confiscated. A more recent operation in the Mannar area specifically targeted illegal sea cucumber trade, leading to the arrest of 26 individuals and the seizure of over 60,448 sea cucumbers and 12 dinghies.
