Sri Lanka Judicial Appointments: Acting Appeals Court President Named, New Judges Recommended

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Court of Appeal Judge Mayadunna Corea as the acting President of the Court of Appeal. This interim appointment, sworn in on September 21st, is to cover the period when President Nalin Rohantha Abeysuriya is abroad until September 24th. In parallel, the President has recommended High Court Judges Navaratne Marasinghe and Manjula Thilakaratne for appointment to the Court of Appeal, forwarding these nominations to the Constitutional Council. Furthermore, three judicial officers – Perumal Sivakumar, Anandi Kanagaratnam, and Gnanesa Lalith Kannangara – are scheduled for appointment as High Court Judges on September 23rd, based on recommendations from the Judicial Service Commission.
