Sri Lanka Issues Maritime Warnings: Rough Seas and High Winds Expected

The Department of Meteorology has issued advisories for the naval and fishing communities due to a low-pressure area situated northeast of Sri Lanka. Coastal and offshore waters are expected to become rough, with wind speeds potentially increasing to 50-65 km/h and wave heights reaching 2-3 meters. The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has strongly advised fishermen to refrain from fishing activities and to return to shore immediately if at sea. Wearing life jackets is mandatory for all individuals engaged in maritime activities. The weather system is anticipated to move away from the island and gradually weaken.
