Sri Lanka Government Issues Digital Guidelines for Remote Public Services Amid Energy Concerns

The Ministries of Digital Economy and Public Administration have jointly introduced interim guidelines for heads of government institutions on the optimal use of digital technologies for delivering public services remotely. This initiative aims to maintain public services systematically while reducing pressure on national fuel reserves amidst ongoing energy challenges. The move follows a directive from a Cabinet Committee chaired by the Prime Minister, which previously led to limited in-office operations due to limited fuel supplies influenced by the Middle East conflict. These guidelines also include provisions for electronic creation, approval, and circulation of government documents within state institutions.
