Sri Lanka Faces Dengue Surge Amidst Monsoon Rains

Sri Lanka is witnessing a sharp rise in Dengue fever cases, with health officials linking the increase to the current rainy weather and the onset of the Southwest Monsoon. As of recent reports, over 28,700 Dengue cases have been recorded this year, alongside 15 fatalities. The Western Province has reported the highest number of infections, though cases are being identified across all 25 districts. Health authorities are urging the public to actively control mosquito breeding sites, as the incidence of the disease, particularly among children, remains high.
