Sri Lanka Extends Rental Aid for Cyclone 'Gitika' Victims

The Sri Lankan government has extended the monthly rental allowance for families displaced by Cyclone 'Gitika'. The LKR 25,000 monthly allowance, initially provided for six months, will now be extended for an additional three months, totaling a maximum of nine months. This aid supports individuals who lost homes due to landslides and floods caused by the cyclone, helping them secure temporary rented accommodation until a new home is built. The decision was confirmed by the Cabinet of Ministers and communicated through budget circulars, with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake also announcing the extension.
