Sri Lanka Declares National Children's Week to Strengthen Child Welfare and Address Modern Challenges

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the declaration of National Children's Week 2026, observed from September 25 to October 01. This initiative, proposed by the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, aims to bolster social attention on children's rights, education, health, and overall well-being. The week will coincide with the annual Children's Day on October 01. Officials highlighted that the focus will extend beyond traditional child protection issues to address contemporary challenges such as digital technology risks, psychological pressures, and neglect. Special programs are planned to run concurrently with the week.
