Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva is reportedly expected to resign from his position on Wednesday, following a directive from the government. This decision comes amid significant pressure from various stakeholders, including players. In his place, Eran Wickramaratne, a former Member of Parliament and State Minister, is anticipated to be appointed to lead an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket. Wickramaratne is also noted for his past as a prominent cricketer at Royal College, Colombo. Silva was first elected as SLC President in February 2019 and has continued in the role since then, winning multiple elections.
