Sri Lanka Considers Bill to Restrict Social Media Access for Under-16s

Parliamentarian Faiszer Musthapha has presented a Private Member's Bill in Sri Lanka's Parliament aimed at restricting social media access for individuals under the age of 16. Titled the "Social Media Minimum Age Bill," the proposed legislation seeks to protect children from harmful online content and activities. The bill also intends to introduce regulations for social media and internet service providers. If enacted, the relevant Minister would be empowered to issue orders to prevent access for minors and potentially limit daily usage time.
