Sri Lanka Completes Distribution of China-Donated 2026 School Uniform Fabric

The Ministry of Education has confirmed the complete distribution of school uniform fabric for the 2026 academic year, received as a grant from the People's Republic of China. A total of 11.484 million meters of fabric was provided to meet the uniform requirements for students in government and government-assisted schools, as well as student monks, nuns, and lay students in government-approved Pirivenas. This initiative has benefited 4,418,404 students across the country. The official announcement of the completion took place on April 22nd at the Ministry of Education premises, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. The event included an exchange of certificates between Prime Minister Amarasuriya and Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong, formally marking the conclusion of the donation process.
