Sri Lanka Coast Warned of Strong Winds, Rough Seas and Elevated Waves

Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for several coastal regions, warning of strong winds and rough seas. Wind speeds are expected to reach 50-60 km/h in the seas off Kankesanturai to Mannar to Puttalam and Hambantota to Pottuvil. Additionally, wave heights may rise to 2.0-3.0 meters along the coast from Colombo to Galle, Matara, Hambantota, and Pottuvil, with potential for waves reaching land in the Beruwala to Matara stretch. Scattered rain and thundershowers are also forecast for some coastal regions. The advisory urges fishermen, naval communities, and coastal residents to remain vigilant.
