Sri Lanka Braces for Showers and Thundershowers as Low-Pressure System Weakens

The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers and thundershowers at several locations across Sri Lanka, particularly after 1:00 PM, with these conditions expected to prevail for the next few days due to a weakening low-pressure system. Showers are anticipated in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Eastern, North-Western, North-Central, and Northern provinces, with morning showers possible in coastal southern, western, and northern areas. Some regions, including parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 50mm, with isolated areas potentially receiving over 100mm. Misty conditions are also forecast for some inland districts, and fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in specific areas. The public is advised to take necessary precautions.
