The Ministry of Health is implementing a significant upgrade to Sri Lanka's cardiac care infrastructure by installing 16 state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories (Cath labs) in major hospitals islandwide this year. Under the directive of Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, these advanced facilities will be established at national hospitals in Colombo, Kandy, and Galle, as well as teaching hospitals in Batticaloa, Ratnapura, Badulla, Jaffna, Kalubowila, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, and the Trincomalee District General Hospital. The project represents a substantial investment of Rs. 3103 million aimed at enhancing critical cardiac treatment capabilities for citizens.
