Sri Lanka Assured of Fuel Stocks Until August, QR System and Quota Hikes Under Consideration

Officials have announced that Sri Lanka possesses sufficient fuel stocks to last until August, with applications already submitted for the remaining months of the year. This assurance was provided during the sixth meeting of the committee tasked with ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of public service, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. The discussions also explored future fuel relief measures, including the removal of the current odd/even number plate system, the introduction of a QR code-based distribution method, and potential increases in fuel quotas. Prime Minister Amarasuriya highlighted the government's efforts to manage the energy crisis without public hardship, while emphasizing that the crisis has not yet concluded.
