Sri Lanka and Vietnam Strengthen Ties with Trade Forum and New Direct Flights

The Sri Lanka–Vietnam Trade, Investment and Tourism Cooperation Forum was successfully held on May 8th at the Hilton Colombo, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations. Jointly organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, the forum coincided with the state visit of Vietnamese President Tô Lâm. The event, attended by President Tô Lâm and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, focused on expanding trade, investment, and tourism opportunities. A key development announced during the forum was the official launch of direct flights between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City by Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air. This initiative is set to boost economic cooperation and connectivity between the two nations.
