Sri Lanka and Belarus Forge Stronger Ties with New Air Services Agreement and Expanded Cooperation

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath concluded an official visit to Minsk, Belarus, aimed at significantly strengthening bilateral ties. During the visit, Minister Herath met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, discussing expanded cooperation in political, economic, educational, and cultural sectors. A key outcome was the signing of an Air Services Agreement to boost connectivity between the two nations. Discussions also focused on exploring new trade and tourism partnerships, with a business round table held to foster economic engagement. Concurrently, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Russia, Shobini Gunasekera, presented her Letters of Credence to President Lukashenko, formalizing diplomatic functions.
