A special permanent three-member High Court Trial-at-Bar has been appointed to hear the case against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal. The appointment was made by the Chief Justice upon a request from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. The case pertains to allegations that Cabraal caused a loss of over LKR 184 crore to the Sri Lankan government by purchasing Greek bonds during Greece's economic crisis in 2012. Proceedings are being initiated due to the alleged breach of a court condition requiring Cabraal to deposit LKR 100 million within three months. The judges appointed to the Trial-at-Bar are Justices Manoj Thalgodapitiya, Udesh Ranatunga, and Buddhika Sri Ragala.
