Speaker Orders MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake Removed from Parliament Chamber

Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, ordered Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake to be removed from the Parliament Chamber on the morning of May 20, 2026. The directive was issued to ensure the smooth continuation of parliamentary proceedings. Reports indicate the MP was removed after he continuously disregarded the Speaker's orders and disrupted the session. The Speaker had reportedly cautioned the MP against discussing matters currently under judicial review.
