Sri Lanka Customs has apprehended a 79-year-old Spanish national, identified as an agricultural engineer, at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in connection with a significant drug seizure. Authorities seized nearly 2.2 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to have a street value of nearly Rs. 110 million. The contraband was discovered concealed within the suspect's delayed baggage after his initial hand luggage was cleared by customs officials. The suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka on July 22nd from Sierra Leone, travelling via Addis Ababa and Doha on Qatar Airways flight QR 654.
