Southwest Sri Lanka to Experience Increased Rainfall and Gusty Winds

The Department of Meteorology has forecast an increase in showery weather across the southwestern parts of Sri Lanka, expected to begin from today evening. Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, including districts like Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya. Some areas may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm, while showers or thundershowers are possible in the Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1:00 pm. Additionally, fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph are anticipated in several regions, including the central hills' western slopes and parts of the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces. Residents are advised to take precautions against potential risks associated with thundershowers and strong winds.
