Traffic flow on the Southern Expressway between the Gelanigama and Dodangoda interchanges is currently impacted by two separate incidents. Today, maintenance work is being carried out on the Matara-bound lanes across two sections, specifically between kilometer markers 17-19 and 28-30. To facilitate this, police have redirected traffic, utilizing the two Colombo-bound lanes for two-way movement, urging drivers to exercise caution to prevent congestion and accidents. Separately, a bus and a lorry collision recently occurred in the same general area, between Dodangoda and Gelanigama, disrupting traffic on the Colombo-bound carriageway and causing significant congestion, according to police reports.
