Son of Ex-Minister, SJB Organiser, Ex-Director Produced in Court in Rs. 120 Million Bribery Case

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court has ordered the remand of Rakitha Rajapaksa, son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa, Charith Abeysinghe, SJB Horana organiser, and Aruna Sri Chaturanga, former Executive Director of Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka Limited, until July 03. The arrests by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) are in connection with allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 120 million to facilitate Nadun Chinthaka alias "Harak Kata".

Rakitha Rajapaksa, Charith Abeysinghe, and Aruna Sri Chaturanga have been remanded until July 03 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The court rejected their bail application, citing insufficient grounds. The bribe was reportedly solicited from the wife of the organized criminal to facilitate him.

Rakitha Rajapaksa, Charith Abeysinghe, and Aruna Sri Chaturanga have been produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. The alleged bribe amount is now consistently reported as Rs. 120 million, a significant reduction from the previously reported Rs. 500 million. The bribe was reportedly solicited to separate notorious drug trafficker Nadun Chinthaka alias "Harak Kata" from detention orders under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), facilitate his transfer from Boossa Prison to a different facility, and bribe Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials to ensure his detention as a regular prisoner.
