SJB Suspends Horana Organiser, Denies Membership at Time of Alleged Bribery

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will initiate a disciplinary inquiry into its Horana electorate organiser, Charith Abeysinghe, following his arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated in Parliament that the party would take the strongest possible action and emphasized there is no place for wrongdoers or criminals within the SJB. Premadasa made these remarks while responding to a question from Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara. A former SJB Member of Parliament also affirmed that the party would not interfere with the ongoing investigations and judicial processes concerning Abeysinghe.
