SJB MP Chaminda Wijesiri Granted Bail After Conviction for Threats and Assault

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Chaminda Wijesiri has been released on bail by the Badulla High Court. He was previously convicted of threatening and assaulting two individuals, a conviction that resulted in an 18-month prison sentence. The court granted bail after considering an appeal filed by the MP. As a condition of his bail, MP Wijesiri is prohibited from travelling abroad without prior court permission. He was released on Rs. 50,000 cash bail and two sureties of Rs. 10 lakhs each.
