Six Tamil-Speaking Parties Forge Alliance, Demand Provincial Elections

Six prominent Tamil-speaking political parties have announced a joint agreement to collaborate on matters of mutual concern affecting their communities. The alliance, which includes the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK), All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC), Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA), Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), and Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), was unveiled at a media briefing in Colombo. The parties stated their collective aim is to address specific challenges faced by Tamil-speaking populations across the island, with the Tamil Progressive Alliance being a key constituent of the Opposition Leader's Samagi Jana Balawegaya coalition. A significant demand articulated by the united parties is the immediate holding of provincial council elections.
