Seven Organized Crime Figures Transferred from Boossa High-Security Prison

The seven organized crime figures, including ‘Wele Suda’, ‘Dematagoda Chaminda’, ‘Loku Patty’, ‘Midigama Ruwan’, ‘Backhoe Saman’, ‘Army Sampath’, and ‘Manna Ramesh’, were transferred from Boossa High-Security Prison to a newly established high-security prison at the Welisara Navy Camp on April 11th. The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara, confirmed the transfer, which reportedly followed intelligence reports indicating inmates at Boossa were continuing criminal activities. Prisons Commissioner Spokesperson A. C. Gajanayake added that the facility at Welisara, previously a detention center, was gazetted and handed over to the Prisons Department, featuring strict security measures including no external phone contact for inmates. While most reports indicate seven transfers, one source stated nine inmates were moved.
