Senior Professor O.G. Dayaratna Banda Assumes Duties as 15th NIE Director General

Senior Professor O. G. Dayaratna Banda assumed duties as the 15th Director General of the National Institute of Education (NIE) in Maharagama on April 20. He brings extensive experience in both local and international education and research to his new role. Prior to this appointment, Professor Dayaratna Banda served as a Senior Professor of Economics at the University of Peradeniya. His administrative experience includes holding the position of Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Peradeniya from 2015 to 2021, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Management at Uva Wellassa University. Professor Dayaratna Banda holds a doctoral degree from the National University of Singapore.
