Sajith Premadasa Criticizes Govt, Pledges New Direction and Protection for Buddhism

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, speaking at the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) May rally in Colombo, criticized the current government for allegedly destroying state institutions and creating new corrupt elements. He asserted that the nation needs a new government focused on delivering people's solutions and safeguarding public institutions, with the SJB ready to lead this initiative. Premadasa also pledged the SJB's commitment to protecting Buddhism and its constitutionally enshrined status, stating they would oppose any forces seeking to diminish its importance. He called for a move away from 76-year-old politics towards a new direction.
