Sacred Tooth Relic Housed in New 86kg Golden Casket

A new, 86.04 kg golden casket has been donated for the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. The private donation, made by the family of Kamanthe Amarasekara, was presented during a special ceremony on September 8. The custodians of the relic, the Mahanayake Theros of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters and the Diyawadana Nilame, have officially informed the Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs about the new casket. The elaborate casket contains approximately 65.224 kg of gold and various precious gems.
