Rs. 75 Million Worth of 'Kush' Seized from Passenger at BIA

Sri Lanka Customs officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) apprehended a 41-year-old passenger attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of narcotics. The suspect, identified as a three-wheeler driver from Dematagoda, was arrested upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, with 7.5 kilograms of 'Kush' cannabis. The seized consignment is estimated to be valued at approximately Rs. 75 million. Officials reported that the drugs were carefully concealed within the suspect's travel bag in multiple airtight parcels. The passenger and the contraband have been handed over to the Airport Police Narcotics Division for further investigations.
