Rs. 356 Million Contract Awarded for Kelani Valley Railway Extension Study to Ratnapura

The Cabinet of Ministers has awarded a consultancy contract for the feasibility study and detailed plans to extend the Kelani Valley Railway Line. This significant infrastructure project aims to connect Avissawella to Ratnapura. The contract, valued at Rs. 356.22 million (exclusive of taxes), was secured by M/s. Resources Development Consultants (Pvt) Ltd. This decision follows Cabinet approval granted on October 21, 2025, to initiate the study, which involved a national competitive procurement process with eight initial bidders.
