Rooftop Solar Owners Urged to Switch Off Systems Amid Low Festive Demand

The National System Control Centre has requested rooftop solar system owners to voluntarily switch off their inverters today, April 14th, until 3:00 PM. This appeal comes due to significantly low electricity demand observed across the national grid during the ongoing festive season of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The primary objective of this temporary measure is to maintain the national grid's reliability and stable operation, ensuring a balanced supply and demand. The request was issued on behalf of EDL (Private) Limited and NSO (Private) Limited, who emphasized the importance of public cooperation for the grid's efficient functioning.
