Retired General Suresh Salleh's Family Appeals to President Over Detention Amid Health Concerns

Retired Major General Suresh Salleh, former Director of State Intelligence, is currently held under a detention order issued under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. His wife, Manori Salleh, has appealed to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, citing his serious heart condition and warning of a grave risk to his life if he is removed from hospital medical care and returned to CID custody. Salleh's mother has also written to the President, emphasizing her son's 37 years of military service and the emotional distress caused by his detention. The Global Sri Lankan Forum has reportedly requested the President not to extend the detention, noting that Salleh has not been named as a suspect in any formal investigations or commission reports concerning the Easter Sunday attacks. His current detention period is scheduled to end on August 28th.
