Registrar General's Department Unveils '1930' Hotline and Modernized Website

The unveiling of the '1930' hotline and modernized website by the Registrar General's Department coincided with the department's 161st anniversary. The event was chaired by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Professor Chandana Abeyratne. Minister Abeyratne stated that digitalization is essential for overcoming current challenges and that this initiative directly contributes to the government's goal of digitizing public services. He further noted that the new system would enable citizens to access services from home, eliminating the need to visit offices and wait in queues.

The Registrar General’s Department (RGD) recently launched a new call center and a modernized official website, coinciding with its 161st anniversary as one of Sri Lanka's oldest state institutions. This initiative aims to enhance and digitalize public services, ensuring greater efficiency for citizens. The new system features a dedicated "1930" hotline and a user-friendly website, both accessible in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. The launch event was held under the patronage of Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Professor Chandana Abayarathne. Minister Abayarathne emphasized the crucial role of digitalization in overcoming contemporary challenges and contributing to the government's broader goal of modernizing public services.
