Ravi Karunanayake Misses Bribery Commission Summons; Officials Visit Residence

Colombo District MP Ravi Karunanayake failed to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on August 29th. The summons was related to an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption concerning the hiring of five employees for the National Lottery Board. These employees were reportedly used for the MP's personal work while receiving government salaries, constituting a misuse of public resources. Following his absence, a team of CIABOC officers visited Karunanayake's residence, but he was not present. His media team stated the MP had not deliberately avoided the commission.
