Ragama Police have arrested five individuals, including a 27-year-old female shop owner, in connection with an incident where a woman's hair was cut and she was allegedly harassed inside a shop. The arrests were made after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media. The victim had reportedly been accused of stealing items from the gift shop. Police investigations revealed that the victim was handed over to authorities on April 7th by the shop's employees for alleged theft, but the hair-cutting incident was not reported at that time. Following the arrests, the victim's statement was recorded, and she was referred to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for a medical examination. The other four arrested suspects are men aged 20, 21, 22, and 23, from various areas including Rajanganaya, Kadawatha, Ragama, and Trincomalee.

The seven suspects, including the main accused, who were previously remanded in connection with the Ragama hair-cutting incident, have been released on bail. On April 24th, Waththala Magistrate Kanchana de Silva ordered their release on Rs. 150,000 personal bail each. Those granted bail include the main female suspect and six shop employees.

Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, bringing the total number of arrests to seven. These new suspects are also identified as employees of the shop. All seven suspects, including the initial five, were remanded until April 24th by Waththala Magistrate Kanchana de Silva on April 20th. The initial five suspects were reportedly arrested on April 17th.

The five arrested suspects, including the shop owner, have been remanded until April 20th after being produced before the Welisara Acting Magistrate today (April 18th). It was further specified that one of the suspects is from Trincomalee China Bay. The perpetrators were identified as a group of shop employees.
