PUCSL Announces New Feed-in Tariffs for Renewable Energy

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has officially announced new feed-in tariffs for electricity generated from renewable energy sources. These revised rates are scheduled to take effect from August 25, 2026, and will remain valid until February 24, 2027. The new tariff structure, approved under the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024, applies to a range of projects including renewable energy power plants, rooftop solar prosumers, and those incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The PUCSL stated the pricing formula was based on cost data, stakeholder proposals, and government policy, following public consultations.
