Protest for Former Intelligence Chief Suresh Sale Concludes in Colombo

A protest campaign organized by several opposition political parties in front of the Colombo Fort railway station, demanding humane treatment and fair legal action for former State Intelligence Director Major General Suresh Sale, has concluded. The demonstration, which began on June 3rd, ended on June 10th, 2026. Major General Sale was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital on June 7th while in the custody of the Criminal Investigations Department. On the final day of the protest, police intervened to manage a brief disturbance involving individuals confronting the demonstrators.
