Prime Minister Amarasuriya Announces Probe into Treasury Hack, Unveils Education Policy Plans

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya announced that a comprehensive investigation, supported by international assistance, will be launched into the recent incident where hackers reportedly obtained $2.5 million from the Treasury via email systems. Speaking to media in Kandy after meeting the Malwathu Mahanayake Thero, the Prime Minister affirmed the government's commitment to taking all necessary steps. During the same interaction, she also detailed upcoming educational initiatives. These include the formulation of a national policy for higher education, the commencement of new education reforms for Grade 6 in 2027, and efforts to develop Piriven education. Her statements followed her visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and a meeting with the Mahanayake Thero.
