Presidential Residences Incur Rs. 35.4 Million in Costs, Host Over 3,000 Guests in Past Year: Audit Report

A recent National Audit Office report indicates that Rs. 35.4 million was spent on the upkeep of seven presidential residences in the past year. The audit found that 3,089 individuals were accommodated in these properties, despite only three meetings being held across all locations. The expenditure covered essential services like electricity and telephone. Notably, three residences in Kataragama, Mahiyangana, and Bentota reported no usage for meetings or accommodation during the period.
