President Directs Digitalization of Local Govt Services, Reviews Progress

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is spearheading a significant digital transformation of Sri Lanka's public services, aiming to make 80% of government services accessible from home by next year. To facilitate this, Rs. 30 billion is earmarked in the upcoming budget for digitalisation initiatives. The plan includes expanding nationwide 4G coverage by constructing 1000 new towers over the next three years. The President also directed officials to establish a unified national digital framework to replace fragmented systems, thereby enhancing efficiency and transparency. These directives were issued during public meetings and progress review sessions.
