President Reviews Progress on Central Highlands Protection Authority

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently reviewed the progress of establishing a new authority aimed at protecting and restoring Sri Lanka's Central Highlands. The meeting, held at the Presidential Secretariat, underscored the urgent need to safeguard the region, often referred to as the 'heart of the country'. This initiative follows extensive damage caused by landslides triggered by Cyclone Dithwah. The proposed authority is tasked with addressing environmental issues in upper watershed areas and ensuring the long-term protection of the Central Highlands.
