President Proposes District Contingency Funds in Next Budget for Swift Repairs

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced plans to allocate a dedicated contingency fund for each district in the forthcoming budget. This initiative aims to empower District Secretaries to undertake urgent repairs to roads, bridges, and public buildings without waiting for central government approval. The announcement was made during a District Secretaries' Conference held at the Colombo District Secretariat, where the President reiterated that meeting the basic needs of the public remains the government's top priority.
