President Discusses Tax Revenue Enhancement and Digitalization with IRD Officials

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake convened a meeting with officials from the Department of Inland Revenue this afternoon (27) at the Presidential Secretariat. The primary focus of the discussions was on enhancing the department's capacity to broaden tax revenue, maximise tax compliance, and recover outstanding tax arrears. According to a statement from the President's Media Division, attendees also reviewed the progress achieved by the department thus far in 2026. Extensive deliberations were held regarding institutional restructuring and digitalization processes, including the advancement of a national e-invoicing system and its associated legal framework, all aimed at achieving these objectives.
