President Directs Batticaloa Focus on Rural Roads, Water, Waste in Upcoming Budget

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the upcoming budget will give special attention to the development of rural roads, the provision of drinking water, and waste management issues. He made these remarks during a Special District Coordination Committee Meeting held at the Batticaloa District Secretariat. The President instructed public representatives and community members to jointly prepare a report on necessary water supply projects for drinking, irrigation, and industrial needs in the Batticaloa district. He also indicated that officials from the Water Supply Board would be sent to the area to discuss these matters. Directives were also issued to commence construction of all planned roads within the year, with measures underway for the development of Valaichchenai Harbour.
