Pope Leo Leads Easter Vigil, Calls for Peace and Appeals to US President on Iran War

Pope Leo led the world's Catholics in an Easter vigil Mass at St. Peter's Basilica on Saturday night. During the service, the first U.S. pope urged attendees not to become numb to the numerous global conflicts, emphasizing the need to work for peace. He stated that mistrust and fear have been allowed to "sever the bonds between us through war, injustice and the isolation of peoples and nations," exhorting, "Let us not allow ourselves to be paralysed!" As an outspoken critic of the Iran war, Pope Leo also made a specific appeal to US President Donald Trump, asking him to find an "exit path" to end the conflict and expressing confidence in the President's efforts.
